Brotein ("we", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Information we collect
- Order information: name, email, phone, and delivery address used to process and fulfil your orders.
- Payment information: processed securely by Paystack. We never see or store your full card details.
- Marketing: your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter (you can opt out at any time).
- Usage data: anonymous visit statistics for every visitor, such as pages viewed, time on page, how far you scroll and which product options you pick. These are recorded without cookies, without storing anything on your device and without your IP address, so they cannot be linked to you. Raw records are deleted after 180 days. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not record them at all.
- Analytics and advertising cookies: only if you accept cookies, we may also use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity (which records how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, with typed and personal details masked) and advertising pixels from Meta, TikTok and Google to measure our ads.
- Campaign attribution: when you arrive from an ad or campaign link, we store the campaign parameters in a first-party cookie for up to 30 days so we can attribute an eventual order to the campaign that brought you here. This is never sold or used to track you across other sites.
How we use your information
- To process orders, arrange delivery and provide customer support.
- To send order confirmations and shipping updates.
- To send marketing communications where you have opted in.
- To detect, prevent and address fraud or technical issues.
Sharing your information
We share information only as needed to run the store, for example with our payment processor (Paystack), courier partners (The Courier Guy / PUDO) and our email provider (Resend), and, if you accept cookies, analytics and advertising providers (Google, Microsoft, Meta and TikTok). We do not sell your personal information.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@brotein.co.za.
Data retention & security
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described here or as required by law, and we use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it.
